Fatal Attraction was inspired by the swans that visit the ponds adjacent to our country home.  They usually come by in the spring and pass through again in the fall, although occasionally they decide to stick around and attempt to raise their brood. Unfortunately, it seems that there are a few too many predators and the chicks usually don’t make it. Originally, I was inspired by the beauty of the swan’s wing movements and I wanted to create a whimsical oxymoron of a swan rowing a boat with a somewhat realistic motion of the wings opening and closing.  But alas, swans’ wings don’t lend themselves to the rowing motion with much ease so I set it aside.  Then one day I realized: No, of course, it’s not a swan rowing!  It’s a fox dressed up as a swan! He’s after his next meal and can’t swim, so naturally he would row out to seduce the lovely lady!  This tragic situation lends itself to a lot more whimsy and fun details.  Everyone is trying to warn her but she is blinded by passion.

I made the video early one morning at the edge of the pond where the swans like to stop.
