An Exhibition at the American Swedish Institute

Verne Anderson + Cecilia Schiller

August 11 to September 16, 2018

This remarkable exhibition featured the engaging and whimsical work of two Twin Cities-based artists whose careers intersect with three-dimensional sculpture, craft and art.

Verne Anderson, whose award-winning work has been shown at Mia, and local and national galleries, creates paintings, illustrations and wood block prints.

Cecilia Schiller crafts fascinating, interactive mechanical sculptures called automata, brought to life when the viewer turns a crank. Schiller is an award-winning sculptor and woodcarver who incorporates hand carved figures and decorative elements into her creations.

Cecilia featured several of her automata as well as the puppets and masks from the production of the folktale “Tatterhood”.
